All - Took the afternoon off today with the express intent of following thru on the Suzuki customer service rep's advice as outlined in the posting below. Rode to Salina, Kansas and visited with the Suzuki dealership manager and explained my problem and those of you who have been having similar or related carb problems with the Savage. His first response was to try to put the responsibility back on me to call other reps. I refused, pulling from my pocket a printout of the internet posting below where the rep said to go thru him. That pretty well took the air out of his sail. I then told him what I wanted and asked him to be my partner in the experiment to find the answer to this ever common and elusive problem. I asked him to allow me to report to you guys via this site the history of this fix and for him to report same to Suzuki tech. My part/slide comes in tomorrow but as agreed I will wait until July 11th for them to schedule me into repair and put it in for me. It's not that I am incapable of doing it, it's that I want them involved 100%. As a paying customer I have the right to expect quality work and satisfaction if this fix and part doesn't work or doesn't last. He also agreed to waive the no customer rule into his shop area and to let me view the repair and to report on it for this site. So, it will cost me some unnecessary expense but it's the only avenue into the official tech department of Suzuki. I have limited the fix to the installation of the vacuum piston/slide only because I don't want something else to muddy the water on this issue. Until then, I have nothing else of value to add. My recent experiments with Marvel Mystery Oil in my tank have proven useful but the fact is my slide is too far gone. If it were new, I think this may have merit resolving wear to this particular part. Between now and July 11 if any of you guys can tell me if you are running a stock muffler and have still had carb problems I would be interested to note that situation. Same for after market pipes. If those of you who have aftermarket/open pipes have experienced carb problems that too should be isolated. All this information will go eventually to the tech, assuming they continue to be as agreeable as they currently are. Keep in mind however that the possibility of Suzuki saying that this is a Mikuni problem still exists and for them to wash their hands of it.
